Cold Mountain Stud commenced operating in 2006 and is a leading standardbred racing and breeding business intent on improving bloodlines and achieving new race records. We have our own training facility at Lowood in South East Queensland with a separate breeding farm an hour further north at Moore.

 

The company started with mainly (around 90) imported broodmares and racers from North America following the belief of our owner, Clive Palmer, that Australia has good access to stallions but fewer top quality mares. Our current breeding plan includes a mix of our own stallions and some outside quality sires.

 

We supply yearlings to the major sales along the eastern seaboard and are also participating in the ready to run sale at Menangle in December. This should be a great occasion to see and pick the best.

 

Since 2006 we have raced our imported stock with mixed results finding many had difficulty in finding success in a different environment. As we build up our own stable of Australian bred 2 and 3 year olds we are excited with a much improved success rate and feel at last we are making an impact. Feedback from those who have bred their mares to our stallions has been outstanding and we are pleased to share our excitement with others.

 

Cold Mountain Stud is tackling Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian race tracks with an ever increasing number of up and coming pacers and trotters using the best trainers and racing on the best circuits. Expect to see more.
