WELCOME

Here at Cold Mountain Stud we are proud to enter the Harness racing and breeding community as a new player in the industry we know has a proud heritage of competition and love of the animals that serve us so well.

We are building a stud to produce the best from the best by selecting top mares and stallions from around the globe to both enhance and diversify blood lines from the world's winners.

Despite our very recent start we have kicked off our breeding with imported pregnant mares as well as having some local acquisitions served and also with recent purchases in the US that have been put into foal before export to Australia.

We have six stallions either here or on their way. They will be ready for the next Australian breeding season and bring new opportunities for Australian breeders. We have decided to stand our trotting stallions Fling It and Yankee Boy in Queensland.  Please see our Stallions pages for details.

We are racing too. By selecting top trainers in Australia, New Zealand and the USA we seek to challenge today's top winners and hopefully excite the crowds and participants alike.
Recent events saw Cartouche win his first (and Cold Mountain Stud’s first) win in Australia. One small race at the Gold Coast but a giant bit of excitement for all of us here.

Spirit of a Shark did well to qualify for the ID08 semi final but his thick northern winter coat and quarantine time was too much drag on his spirit so we’ve brought him to his new home with Darrel Graham for some acclimatisation and education.

Gold Dust Beach came second on March 8th at Meadowlands missing out on a win but just 1/10th second behind the leader in 1:53.4.

Honky Tonk Hanover achieved a respectable fourth place at the same meet in 1:57:0. We will see both of these excellent pacers in Australia before year end.

Eden Burst made his debut at Alexandra Park in Auckland on Tuesday 11th March coming second in his first race for us. What a start!

But back to breeding… Cold Mountain Stud operates two properties, a 200 acre breeding and foaling stud at Lowood and a 1400 acre breeding and spelling farm in scenic Moore. In time our stallions and progeny will be available for sale but for the time being we are in a planning, acquisition and settling in mode.

Our on farm stallions are Artistic, The Globe, Fling It, VP Finance, Quality Cam and Yankee Boy.
And just a sample of our broodmares….

Frightening P – a 1:48.4 pacer from Camtastic and Unmerciful and is currently in foal to Cams Card Shark. What a great opening asset to Cold Mountain Stud!

There’s lots more… we’ll post updates as we progress. If you want to talk to us, just email us at info@coldmountainstud.com.au
